Two Great Wide Angle Opportunities Coming Up
A couple of exciting oportunities coming up presented by Wide Angle Tasmania, the opportunity to spend the weekend at a workshop with Heather Oxenham should not be missed!
MANAGING SHORT FILMS - WORKSHOP WITH HEATHER OXENHAM
WAT invites you to a 2 day intensive workshop to learn what it takes to be the Production Manager on a short film production. You will learn the basics of managing the shoot; schedules, marking up scripts, working with crew and cast, safety on set, production paperwork and navigating the world of post-production. This course will be taken by Heather Oxenham, a highly experienced Line Producer with numerous screen credits and extensive experience in teaching screen short courses. Heather will reveal her insider tips on how to gain the best production values with very limited resources. This is a must-do course for DIY filmmakers and those seeking production management skills.
When: Weekend of 25th & 26th June, 2011 from: 10am – 5 pm
Venue: Phillip Smith Centre, Glebe Hobart

COURSE TUTOR BIO – HEATHER OXENHAM
Heather Oxenham has worked extensively in both commercial and independent productions. Her experience in the Australian feature film industry has seen her working with award winning directors such as Rolf de Heer, Bill Bennet, Clara Law and Scott Hicks.
Born in Adelaide, Heather began her career at the South Australian Film Corporation, where she was selected and trained as a continuity person. In 1990, Heather moved to Sydney, initially to work on the independent feature DEAD TO THE WORLD. Heather then extended her scope to include television and documentaries, for Australia’s National Multicultural Broadcaster, SBS TV, on programs such as TALES OF THE SOUTH SEAS, WALLS OF SECRECY, ARROW AGAINST THE WIND, and ROMANOV. In 1993 she was appointed Manager of the Education Unit at SBS.
Heather moved into commercial television production in 1996, where she worked on a number of programs from concept through to production for Beyond International.
In feature films her first assistant director credits include the AFI nominated feature film, Erskinville Kings [1999] and Kiss or Kill [1997] which won, five AFI awards, and was the winner of the Film Critics Circle of Australian Awards [FFCA]. In 1999, she started as the production supervisor of All Saints, and was later promoted to line producer, where she has played an instrumental role in the changes made to the program during this time. Her company, Karisma Pictures, has won many awards for its outstanding productions. SEXY THING, a short film, Produced by Heather, was officially selected for competition at Cannes and won a creative excellence award at the Melbourne Film Festival in 2006.

Wide Angle Tasmania is hosting the 2011 Tasmanian Music Video Competition and they want your film (and this year WAT will help you make it!)
WAT will be screening all entries to the comp during Amplified in August and awarding cash and equipment prizes to the winning entry. A great way to showcase Tassie talent – music & film.
If you’ve already produced a music video, grab an entry form and you’re set to go….
Otherwise Wide Angle Tasmania will help kick start your production by offering FIVE filmmakers $250 worth of free equipment hires each to produce their music video. Get in touch for more details.
