Cooper Screen Academy Open For Enrolments!

Cooper Screen Academy Director, Sara Cooper (ABC's My Place, Channel Ten's My Brother Jack, Channel Nine's Pixel Pinkie, Bettamilk campaigns and much more) has announced a wide range of events taking place throughout Tasmania's winter.

The Academy is a great place to be seen with Jane Binning from Jane Binning Casting viewing students at a recent class. Jane has cast popular TVC campaigns including the zany Bettamilk Frank and Nikki series and was thrilled to meet the students and see their work.

To counter the winter chills outside there is plenty of action and news from the Academy right now!

Highlights include;

  • Holiday workshops at both ends of the state this month and a huge inaugural Actors Boot Camp being announced for September this year.
  • Twenty CSA students have recently been cast in two feature films, a nationwide education film, a statewide TV commercial and Tasmanian Theatre Company readings.  
  • This year the Academy will sponsor the Most Engaging Talent Award at the My State Student Film Festival, and Academy Director Sara Cooper joins the panel of judges in this fantastic statewide festival.

"Ever wondered how to land that role?  Be noticed above the rest?  Know what people are looking for?
Be prepared, be informed, and be seen – attend CSA’s AUDITIONING FOR TV workshops this holidays.
Located in Goodwood Film Studios and supported by Screen Tasmania, COOPER SCREEN ACADEMY celebrates its first year of presenting classes and workshops for aspiring actors of all ages 10 and up by holding a series of “AUDITIONING FOR TV” workshops in the June holidays.  These exciting workshops are open to new actors at the academy and will give useful tips and insights into auditioning successfully for film and TV roles.

Academy Director Sara Cooper is passionate about linking her students in with professional opportunities and says: “It has been an extremely exciting first year at the Academy with many students landing roles in commercials, shorts films and even feature films this year. We have also had visits from an award winning interstate actor (Channel Nine’s Underbelly) and director (ABC’s Dance Academy) which is a real bonus for students.”


A trained actor and qualified teacher who’s many screen and stage roles include the Canadian/Australian feature Arctic Blast, award winning mini-series My Brother Jack and ABC’s My Place, Cooper is currently in rehearsals for lead roles in two feature films shooting locally and loves passing her knowledge of the industry on to her students.
Cooper says: “Auditions can be very daunting, so knowing how to present yourself and having some good tips up your sleeve can certainly give that extra confidence boost.”
